It's a pattern of thought in the kingdom of the sky, that only the most wretched creatures are shown to be cursed. Such is the case for Temperament and Flare.
The egg of the SkyWing was not the only one in their clutch. In fact, there were three eggs, theirs the largest. In the clutch of dragonets, once they had hatched, it was very clear that the two- headed SkyWing was the odd one out. Every one of them had the coloration of a SkyWing, with the overly- large wings distinctive of the species. Flare and Temperament, however, was very quickly singled as odd. Most notably, they had two heads.
Now, this had not been the first time that a two- headed dragon had been hatched. It wouldn't be the last, either, but at the moment in time where Flare and Temperament had hatched, it had been an issue. They can remember the eyes of their mother- a fierce, hard amber, looking over their two heads. Their mother had turned to their father, they know, and that was when they had first noticed they had two heads. Temperament had been confused, and Flare had snapped at the other head, quite literally.
Mother had been interesting. With the almost- perfect curve of the neck that SkyWings had, and dark, ruby- red scales, lined with crimson and touched with oxblood. Her eyes, the hard, sharp, angry amber color, seemed to peer past the appearance of a dragon and read into their soul, and it had always unnerved the dragonet. Her wings faded from an almost perfect red to the orange of flames, and Flare was quite thankful that he inherited some of those colors.
Father, on the other hand, was all oranges and yellows. Dark oranges, almost browns, for the most part, with a sharp face and- everything about him was sharp. Sharp, fiery red eyes, and a scowl on his face. He was always adorned in gold, they remember, and he always seemed to be annoyed. His wings were smaller than Mother's, but still, it was clear he was a SkyWing. Other than that, Temperament and Flare remember little of him, as he left shortly, leaving Mother to care for them and their siblings for the short time the two- headed dragonet was with them.
The siblings in question were all normal- none were odd in any way, and that was probably what ended up saving the dragonet. Mother looked at the barely- hatched dragon and apparently pity took over on the older SkyWing, as instead of throwing them off a cliff, she dropped them off as far away as she could while still remaining somewhat nearby.
And that was how the two- headed dragonet ended up in the Kingdom of Mud. Lost, alone, and with the hope that they'd starve. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, that was not what happened.
Instead of dying of dehydration, the dragonet was rescued by a MudWing, with such a different frame than any of the dragons the young SkyWing had ever seen. The MudWing took pity on the hatchling, taking them back to her siblings, who were about a month older than the two- headed dragonet. There, they were named- each head got a name, with the more aggressive and outgoing head being Flare and the more timid head being called Temperament. The SkyWing dragonet was given strange looks, but their sibs tended to protect them as best they could.

"Flare, why aren't you paying attention?" Everglade asked of the more aggressive head, causing him to snap out of his thoughts and look up at his older MudWing sibling.
"I- uh-" Flare swore quietly, and Temperament snickered from off to the side, causing the other head to give him a glare. "Shut up, you. Having two heads is harder than it looks, Ev."
"Yeah, well I don't remember Temper not paying attention."
"Well- uhm- me and Temper like, we share a body. Sadly. So if he was paying attention, so was I. Asshole." Flare replied, narrowing his eyes a bit at the older MudWing.
"Sure. Sure you were." The MudWing laughed, and the SkyWing smiled a bit, laughing a little along with the rest of their siblings. It was good here, Flare knew, and he could only hope that would stay.
