NAME: Sundial
Nicknames: Don't try it.
Gender : Female Age : 37 Rank : Bounty hunter Sexuality: Bisexual
Tribe(s): SandWing
Appearance: {A brown-orange SandWing dressed as a cowboy.}
The character's appearance;
Abilities: Normal SandWing abilities. Sundial can stop time in a certain area, usually about enough for a dragon or two to fit. This only lasts up to ten minutes, with the exact duration often varying due to her amount of distraction. Getting distracted by something outside of its radius is usually what stops it. Sundial can also turn time forward and backward, affecting only one person or object at a time. (Objects a person is wearing are not affected.) However she cannot make this permanent. She has to keep her claws on the "sundial" she turns to cause this to happen, and if she takes her claws off it without setting the affected back to normal she will face horrible sickness or death. It's mostly just for intimidation, shock, or for surprise.
For objects- many of them do not give her the same sickness. It's usually 4 turns of the dial that would give her the sickness (4 months forward). If something decays in less than that time or would heal in less than that time, there is no effect on her. She can heal scratches, wounds, anything that would heal in less than that time. Dragons can only be aged that amount of time forward or backward without adverse effects on her. She is unable to continue doing this over and over, as there is a cooldown that would allow a dragon to run. (If they just sit there, she totally can.)
Basically: Anything further than 4 turns forward or backwards: adverse effects on her that may kill her if she makes it permanent. Cannot be stacked as there is a cooldown. If she keeps her claws on the sundial (power active), she can go as far as she likes but cannot make it permanent since the effects are often not worth it. Basically: can turn a stack of paper to dust and make an egg close to hatching hatch, but cannot turn a dragonet into an adult unless she keeps her claws on the dial.
Personality:
{briefly; chaotic, annoying, unhinged, talkative, confident}
Detailed personality here;
Sundial is... a bit feral. She doesn't seem to listen to rules or social norms at all, normally doing whatever she feels like doing. A lot of the time she doesn't understand what's considered "proper": she'll roam around in the woods, and then wonder why dragons are looking at all of the burrs in her sail. She'll bite anything she feels like biting and can get her teeth on, just because it was possible to bite it. She'll intimidate people if she wants to, stand on things she's not meant to be on, and basically ignoring every bit of decency she can possibly ignore. Does she understand this? Sometimes, yes. Often, she doesn't seem to have any realization that things she does are entirely against what is normal. She's intelligent and quick-thinking, easy to pick stuff up and learn (but whether she follows those rules is another story altogether).
History: Sundial, from the day she was hatched, was born like this. She emerged with the strange markings on her body and the patterns that matched yet didn't match either of her parents- and when her sister came out of the egg, her parents realized something was wrong. They were weak, broken- and didn't last much longer after finally breaking the shell of their egg. Dragons in their community blamed the surviving hatchling, claiming that something was off about that one- the markings, the colors, the look on the newborn's face... and she had to deal with that for as long as she grew up in that area of the kingdom. Her mother was always greatly supportive of the dragonet, helping her deal with the strange magics that sprouted as she aged. Her father eventually left as Sundial eventually became increasingly stronger- enough to where she could do more than just stopping the flow of time. She was a terrifying little creature, but her mother's affection kept her under check.
Eventually a fire struck the small grove they were living in for a time. Sundial was unable to save her mother, having to watch the older SandWing die- and she blamed herself for it. To be that powerful, yet not to be able to save her own mother with what she was able to do! This was the start of Sundial's slow movement into insanity, fueled by hidden guilt and the influence of the enchantment she had never asked for.
Family:
parents
mother: Desertification (deceased)
father: Cactusspine
siblings
sibling one: Carlisle (deceased)
relations
friends: What's a friend?
enemies: A lot.
etc.
