Blinking open their eyes, the first thing the young dragon felt was pain.
Everything hurt, especially their head. Minke groaned, and as they moved their talons in front of them, they noticed they were covered in a dark blue liquid. They frowned, narrowing their eyes at it. They knew it meant something important, but they couldn't figure out what. Everything in their head felt fuzzy, and it didn't seem like the most important thing right now. Slowly they sat up, gasping in pain at any sudden movements, and looked around. The landscape looked familiar, with few plants growing and mountains both nearby and in the distance, yet Minke couldn't remember where exactly they were.
Doesn't matter. They thought, shaking their head, before stopping themself with a quiet hiss. This spot felt too exposed, and while Minke didn't know why they didn't like it here, they decided to find a better place to rest. Stretching out their wings for balance, they got up on shaky legs, then slowly began to climb down the hill, to a few trees. They could smell water, and it looked like a hidden spot, so for now it was good enough. But as they climbed down, one of the rocks under their talons shifted, causing Minke to slide down with a yelp, landing in a rather prickly push.
Letting out a long sigh, they closed their eyes. Their legs hurt, and branches were poking into their wings, but they didn't have the energy to keep going towards the trees. This works too, they thought, closing their eyes. But even though they felt exhausted, Minke couldn't fall asleep. They just lied there, with their face in a bush.

Cavern tilted his wings. He was so glad he could fly again, after so long living on the volcano. Sometimes, he missed Learned, the nightwing librarian who taught him all he knew, but most of the time, he was glad to be free. He soared over the mountaintops, then faltered. What was that? It looked like an icewing. He wondered what an icewing was doing on the Claws of the Clouds mountains. Perhaps it was an invasion scout? He circled closer. This dragon didn't appear to be spying on the skywings, however. It mostly just looked confused. Cavern decided to find out. He circled one last time and landed behind the dragon. It was a dragonet! Certainly not of age to be leading an invasion force. "Greetings, young one. I am Cavern. What is it you are doing so far from your home?" He realized that this dragonet would be justified in asking the same of Cavern. It did not matter. Cavern had no home to speak of, not now. He had been wandering for years after he'd escaped the volcano. Nowhere he went required the assistance of a teacher, which is what Cavern intended to become. He wanted to make sure that dragonets could have the same education he'd had, but in a safe location, without the threat of death over their heads at any moment. Word count: 227 Ombekende

"Hm..?" Opening their eyes again, Minke lifted their head from the bush. Their ears twitched as they could hear the quiet whoosh of wings grow closer. After blinking a few times to get rid of the blurryness in their vision, they looked up to see a dark brown dragon approach them. For a few seconds they just stared at them, trying to figure out what to do, before Minke realized they were saying something. Maybe I should get out of this bush first, before I try to talk to them. they thought, flicking their tail. Although they fell more than they really got up, Minke eventually managed to get their face out of the prickly plant. Quickly shaking their head to get any twigs out of their spines, they suddenly remembered the other dragon.
Frowning, Minke tried to remember what they said. Home..? Yeah, I think they said that..? Clearing their throat, they looked up at the hybrid. "Ah yes my home um.." They quickly glanced around, trying not to show their confusion. "I am..." Frowning, they thought of what to say. "A bit lost. Yeah..." They said, hoping that was what they asked, and that it was not too obvious they had no idea where they were. Or even who they were. Feeling something warm drip down their head, Minke instinctively rubbed it with their talon, before looking down at it. More of that blue stuff?

Cavern watched as the dragon turned their head. He inhaled sharply. This dragon was covered in blood! Cavern could not tell if the blood came from claws, but there was a large scratch on his head that was oozing dark blue blood. Cavern looked down at his talons. He detested blood. The dragon frowned. "Ah, yes. My home... uh..." The dragon looked around, clearly confused. "I am... a bit lost, yeah..." Some blood was dripping down the dragon's head, and they swiped at it with a talon. They looked at the blood on their talon, confused. Cavern reached out a wing, unsure of what to do. He cleared his throat. "Well, you are clearly in need of medical attention,"[/i][/b] Cavern said. "Can you fly? I know of a place where a good doctor is located," He knew the scorpion den was very far from here, but Cavern did not know of any other doctors. Minke looked back up at the other dragon. "Well, you are clearly in need of medical attention," Frowning, they huffed. They were fine! Just very tired and in pain. Okay, maybe Minke did need medical attention. They tried to stand up a bit straighter. "Can you fly? I know of a place where a good doctor is located,"Minke flicked their tail, stumbling slightly, "Of course I can." They huffed, spreading their wings, then paused for a second before shaking their head. "I'm fine, I don't need a doctor." Minke said, before flapping their wings. They did manage to get off the ground, but very quickly lost their balance, crashing into the ground close to where they started. "See. They said, getting up again, "Don't need any help. I'm fine. Lifting up their head they turned around to walk away. They didn't fold their wings back up, instead they simply dragged along the ground. It didn't seem to bother them much, as Minke was more focused on not falling again. (170) Mantis Shrimp

The dragonet flicked their tail. "Of course I can." Cavern wasn't convinced. The dragonet continued, "I'm fine, I don't need a doctor." They launched themselves into the air... and promptly crashed into the ground. Cavern frowned. "See, Don't need any help. I'm fine." Cavern shook his head. "If you do not believe you need assistance, that is fine. Stay here. I shall return." Cavern spread his wings and launched into the sky. He truly hoped the dragonet would stay where they were. He was fairly confident he'd be able to find the dragonet if they did leave. The trail of blood should be fairly clear. Cavern shuddered and accidentally dipped a little in the air. He righted himself and flew towards the scorpion den. Word count: 124 OmbekendeOOC - I'll make the other thread now

"If you do not believe you need assistance, that is fine. Stay here. I shall return." Minke narrowed their eyes, glaring behind them, but the other dragon had already left. They shook their head again and kept walking, looking around for those trees they saw earlier. "Stay here? Pfft." They hissed, letting themself slide down a hill. "I can take care of myself!" But right as they said that, Minke lost their balance again, rolling down the rest of the way, into a tree. Close enough. They thought, rolling onto their side. After looking around to make sure there were no threats, or if that dragon hadn't returned yet, they lowered their head onto their talons and closed their eyes.

Agate wanted to fly as fast as he could, but he had to follow Cavern. The way Cavern had described it, it sounded as though the dragonet had been covered in blood. Agate doubted that, but he'd still brought extra bandages just in case. As he was flying, something caught his eye. It looked like a Sandwing and a Skywing talking... but... that was Gila! He quickly checked his supply of cactus milk to see that he had enough and decided to come back here when he was done treating the Icewing. Hopefully, Gila wouldn't have hurt the Skywing too badly. As they approached the mountains, Cavern slowed. Agate stopped himself from growling. This dragon has just flown all the way to the Scorpion den and back, at top speed. Of course he's tired! Finally, Agate spotted the Icewing. He was just... laying there! He really must have been injured. Agate swooped down as quickly as he could, landing in front of the Icewing. He heard Cavern collapse to the ground behind him. "Hello, there. My name is Agate. Cavern here told me you need medical attention, so I came as fast as... we could." Agate did a quick examination of the dragonet, and brought out a roll of bandages. "Now, where does it hurt?" Word count: 215

"Ughh.." Covering their eyes with their talons, Minke growled quietly. The sun felt way too bright, like shards of ice stabbing into their eyes and brain. It was probably a good idea to find a better place to sleep, away from the sun, but Minke didn't have the energy to get up. Their wings and legs were aching, their scales felt like hundreds of tiny claws were digging into them, and yet somehow their head still hurt the most. They let out a hiss, looking down at their talons. Maybe that one dragon was right and they did- No! They shook their head, ignoring the pain. I'm fine! I can take care of myself. They thought, digging their talons in the ground under them. Minke was sure they'd be fine, they just had to rest here for a bit. Maybe get some food.
They glared at the sun, narrowing their eyes at the bright light. Bad idea ouch. At this point they were just done with the sun. It was too bright and too warm and it wouldn't let Minke sleep. They growled at it, turning their head away from it, when they could hear wings again. Looking up they saw the dragon from before, with someone else behind them. Good luck with finding me, I'm gone. They smiled, although that quickly faded when they swooped down to land in front of them. Oh, right. They weren't really hidden here.
"Hello, there. My name is Agate. Cavern here told me you need medical attention, so I came as fast as... we could." Minke narrowed their eyes at them, "And I told him I'm fine!" They huffed, looking away. "Now, where does it hurt?" They looked away, not replying. Just because they couldn't run away, didn't mean Minke was actually going to be nice and help them. "You're a medic aren't you? I'm sure you can figure it out."

The dragonet looked away, saying, "You're a medic, aren't you? I'm sure you can figure it out." Agate frowned. "Yes, it's true I can see the wounds on the outside, but if you had an internal wound, I wouldn't be able to see it." As he spoke, he unrolled the bandages, and started wrapping them around the scratch on the dragonet's head. "This wound is deep, but not fatal if treated. It might leave a scar, but you should survive."Once the bandages sufficiently covered the wound, Agate circled the dragonet, looking for any other serious injuries. "You're lucky you came out of whatever happened with so few injuries!" Agate exclaimed, pleased. "What did happen? Did you hit your head on something? You don't have to tell me. Do you want me to treat your smaller scratches as well, or would you like me to leave them?" He hoped this dragon hadn't hit their head hard enough to hurt their brain. "I do hope you'll be more careful next time," Agate said. "You might not always be so lucky that the dragon that finds you is as kind as Cavern." Agate wondered what would have happened to the dragonet if a Skywing had found them - an Icewing in Skywing territory. "It might do you good to avoid flying when you can until your head stops hurting," The dragonet probably wouldn't listen, but if their brain was injured, they might have a hard time flying until it healed. Minke hissed quietly as he wrapped the bandages around their head, although they held still. "This wound is deep, but not fatal if treated. It might leave a scar, but you should survive." They frowned, "So what, it's not fatal so you just cover it up?" They asked, watching Agate through narrowed eyes as he circled around them. Folding their wings closer to their body they huffed, flicking one ear as he spoke again. "You're lucky you came out of whatever happened with so few injuries! What did happen? Did you hit your head on something? You don't have to tell me. Do you want me to treat your smaller scratches as well, or would you like me to leave them?" They stiffened, baring their teeth, although Minke did not really know why. "Does it matter?" Letting out a sigh, they forced themselves to relax a tiny bit. "Do what you want, I dont care." Minke growled, hiding their face under their wing. At this point they were just tired, and they somehow hoped that they would just leave them alone.
"Yeah yeah, I'll try to be more careful." They rolled their eyes, although he probably couldn't see it under their wings. "Do you always just fly around treating random people in the middle of nowhere, or am I an exception?" Minke shifted their wing slightly to glare at the older dragon. Why are you so rude..? He's only trying to help. With a shake their head, Minke hid under their wings again, frowning at their own thoughts. Why why why why why wh y why Gritting their teeth, the dragonet closed their eyes, shaking slightly. Everything hurts I'm so confused I just want to sleep- Hhg no stop. They took a deep breath, ignoring their thoughts, before speaking again. "Where do I even go then if I can't fly..?"
Minke hadn't heard them leave, so they thought Agave and that other dragon- Cavern? were still around. But maybe Minke just didn't hear them, and they were talking to nothing. It didn't matter though, Minke's wings were fine, so they didn't see why they weren't supposed to fly. But they might as well try to figure out why not.

Agate paused his work when the dragonet spoke. "So, it's not fatal if you just cover it up?" Agate smiled, pleased that his patient was showing some interest. "It could have been fatal if left untreated. You could have bled out! The bandages aren't to 'cover up' the wound, but to stop it from bleeding, and to protect it from irritations, giving it time to heal." Agate resumed wrapping the bandages around the dragon's head, and continued talking. He was gratified to hear that the dragonet was ok with Agate treating the smaller wounds. He put the bandages back in his sachel, and pulled out a vial of paste, which he rubbed into the scratches. There! Now they won't get infected. "Yeah, yeah, I'll try to be more careful. Do you always fly around treating random dragons in the middle of nowhere, or am I the exception?" Agate frowned slightly. "Where do I even go then, if I can't fly?" "To answer your first question, I don't just fly around looking for injured dragons. That would be inefficient. I do, however, treat any dragons that come to where I work. To answer your second question, there's a town called Possibility just north/northwest of here. It is welcoming to all tribes, and you should be able to stay there until you are recovered. I could lead you there if you'd like, although... Agate suddenly remembered seeing Gila confronting a skywing. "I would have to go somewhere first. It wouldn't take long."Word count: 251 Ombekende

"I didn't think bandages could do all that but okay sure." They said, rolling their eyes. Minke just quietly watched Agate through their wings as he took care of their wounds. A quiet growl forming in their throat when he took out the paste and began to rub it into the cuts. Digging their claws into the ground they hissed as they began to sting a bit, before fading again. They sighed, looking down at their claws, then flicked out their tail before shifting their wings again, away from their head this time. Blinking a few times at the light, they looked at the Sandwing. "Sounds boring then. Just sitting in your office, waiting for someone to go to you." They huffed, "I'd imagine it would be very tempting to hurt someone yourself, just so you have something to do..." What why are you saying that what is wrong with you stop
"Possibility?" Minke hummed, tilting their head. Sounds stupid I'd rather go home- "I'm guessing we actually are in the middle of nowhere then. Great. Do you have a map maybe..?" They asked, glancing at Cavern as well, frowning slightly. Why are you still here you got help I'm fine what more do you want from me "Ah okay, I'll just um, wait here I guess. Until my legs are actually working again. Good luck with that then I guess."

Cavern stood up as Agate flew away, having finally gotten his breath back. He walked over to the dragonet, and when it was clear that they weren't intending to say anything, Cavern broke the silence. "I sincerely hope that you heal quickly," he paused again, thinking of what else to say. He abhored awkward silences. "May I inquire as to how you came to be here, so far from your home?" As soon as the words left his mouth, Cavern realized that was not a very good assumption to make. Cavern had met several dragons who lived outside their tribes or origin for one reason or another. He quickly added, "You do not have to answer me, of course. I am curious about what circumstances led you to be here, in this state. I do not even know your name," he realized. In all the commotion, the dragonet's name had never come up. Cavern opened his mouth to say something more, then quickly closed it. He'd said enough for now. If the dragonet felt uncomfortable sharing how he got there, perhaps Cavern would share part of his own story in an attempt to get them to open up. Word count: 198 Ombekende

"Same here." They mumbled, not looking directly at Cavern, but still watching him. At this point they just wanted to run and fly and leave. Minke huffed, glancing directly at him when he spoke again. "May I inquire as to how you came to be here, so far from your home? You do not have to answer me, of course. I am curious about what circumstances led you to be here, in this state. I do not even know your name,"" Home? Hmm. Minke frowned, staying silent. They actually weren't sure either, but they didn't feel like they'd have to tell that to everyone. So they said nothing, looking away again. "Does it matter?" A faint grin appeared on their face, yet they didn't know why. "I could ask you the same, unless you do just live in the middle of nowhere." They hummed, looking around, "Unless there is actually a city nearby." It didn't seem like it, since it had taken Cavern quite a bit to find that healer- Agate. He might give more information about the area though. They thought, watching him through the corner of their eyes. "But my name..?" The Icewing thought for a bit, frowning. namenamenamename... The first thing they thought of was Minke. And while it did feel right, they weren't entirely sure either. There's also Vivum and Pyralspite and Leviathan- Which one is really mine? They shook their head, "...Minke I guess?" Seems right... I could always just correct him later if I'm wrong.(251) Mantis Shrimp
