“We..normally don’t have a thief problem, but I’ll be quick to let you know, miss.” Vice said with a smile, dipping his head. The SilkWing chuckled. “I’ll keep that in mind. I generally don’t go about trying to get them stolen, but these things happen.” he joked, inwardly happy that the guard did indeed have a sense of humor. Bronzewing

kingfish"That's good. It means that we're doing our job- both in getting thieves off the streets and intimidating dragons not to even try." she said, a small smile on her face. "Well, maybe keep your heirlooms hidden so more SilkWings don't run off with them. Keep your eyes on them too- and if you're moving valuables feel free to call one of us to keep an eye on it." She wouldn't mind getting paid for a few hours of watching some wealthy dragon move their stuff around. She smiled at them, flicking her wings a bit as she spoke to them. The action was over, but she wanted to speak for a tad longer before having to go back to her normal job of...walking around.

Bronzewing“I’ll try to remember that. Sorry to say, it’s not really a..daily occurance,” he said with a small laugh. Dragons weren’t exactly jumping over one another to steal from someone related to the Queen..albeit distantly. The HiveWing turned to face the guard instead of away from them. It was rather rude to keep talking to someone behind you, yes? Not to give them their full attention? He looked up at the dragon to speak to them. The red and black HiveWing had to be at least a head taller than him. Vice wasn’t utterly abnormal in size, but his young age and moderate size made her large seem massive. Vice snorted, “I’m sure they’d have a problem with the three statues. Besides, there’s no fun to a heist if there’s no chase.”

kingfish"Well, there's stuff going on in here all the time." she said with a shrug. "Always those SilkWings causing some trouble around the place. Maybe not here, but somewhere." She clicked her claws across the ground. She looked over the dragon's face now that they had finally turned to face her- good. She expected them to just continue looking away from her. At least some dragons respected the guards after they had done something for them. "Fair enough- even the guards don't mind a good chase every once in a while." she said with a small laugh. "It's a good way to stretch the wings! Call me if you see any heists, okay?"

Bronzewing“It’s very odd that dragons who can’t defend themselves do these things. Perhaps I would understand if they even had a chance against HiveWings, yet they always try and fail,” he snorted, “Though that may be more indicative of the quality of the guard than SilkWings, considering my own condition.” The young HiveWing said, ears flicking forward. Guards were nice dragons, and besides, his mother herself had once been on the path to being one. Though many dragons viewed it as a dirty job, Vice had the brains not to underestimate a dragon so large. Much less disrespect them. “I mean-“ Vice shot a look at his own lack of wings, “I’m not stretching much-“ he said, clearly joking. “I will. What’s your name?”

kingfish"I would expect that they at least had a plan for it. We'll catch them trying to sell it off- and even more so if they try to wear it on them. It's useless." She said this a bit louder than usual- maybe if some other dragons heard, they would be more hesitant to do crimes while she had her eyes on them. Of course, sometimes they were smart enough and disguised them item or sold it under the radar- but she wouldn't mention that. Better to make them think she always found her target. "They've never been able to fight us either. HiveWings always have the upper hand when it comes to fights, it seems- silk doesn't do much against scales." She smirked, trying to intimidate maybe some of the other possible thieves around the area. It did seem like she was catching eyes, if only for a few moments. Her words about the quality of the guard made her smile a bit more- although she wouldn't bother responding to flattery of that nature. She did like to hear good stuff about the guards, though- especially about her. "Well, I guess you can stretch your legs." she said with a small laugh. "Just call for 'Bombardier'."

Bronzewing“Well, it’s good that the guard is here to catch them from doing that,” Vice said with a frown. It seemed..underhanded to just take jewelry from someone-why not buy or make your own? Maybe SilkWings were more greedy than he had previously thought, which..wasn’t an entertaining idea, considering the multitude of SilkWing servants that he allowed within the house-near the jewelry. Though the dragon probably needn’t worry-as the red and black guard he said, they would catch them anyways. SilkWings didn’t often just come across ornate jewelry. “Plus poison, stingers, and acid,” he added with a smile, always ready to be proud of his tribe, “Don't tell me some fool actually tried to fight you with *silk*-“ he snorted. It seemed utterly outlandish that a dragon would try such a thing. SilkWings were utterly harmless, everyone knew that, why would one be agressive-much less try to fight? “Gotta get exercise in somehow,” he scoffed, nodding and smiling at the dragoness, “Bombardier. A fitting name for a guard-I like it. It’s like you were made for this job. I’m Viceroy.” the dragon introduced politely, trying his best to commit her name to memory.

kingfish"That's what we do. If they try to do crime, we're on them- although usually we just send them to the jails. It's not often that they steal from nobles, and the noble is around to pick their punishment." Hint hint- she thought- you could have picked literally anything to happen to this dragon and I would have done it. "Poison, stingers, acid, whatever else we get. We have the better combat capabilities, and it seems like those butterflies haven't realized that yet." she said with a small snicker. "Yep- tried to fight me with silk. It didn't do a thing- maybe it would have slowed me down if they got it in my eyes, but they didn't get that far. It just slid off and my claws slid in. She smiled, showing her teeth. "Sometimes I guess they hire us dragons with the most intimidating names. No "Bumblebee" has gotten in the guard- all dragons with names as sharp as their claws." She flexed her claws a bit. "Viceroy- I like that. Never met a HiveWing named something like that, but that doesn't matter a bit." She gave a small wave of her claws. "No issues with unusual names, of course."

Bronzewing“I’ve never visited the jails,” Vice noted, tapping a claw to his mouth. He had actually been to not a lot of the Hives-pretty much only the highest parts or them, not the places that most of the population inhabited-dark places, probably full of crime. It was good, he thought to himself again, that the guards were around to make order. He snorted, “Probably a good thing for the SilkWings. I know some very self-obsessed dragons.” Viceroy snorted in disbelief, “They didn’t! What’s even the point of resisting guards. SilkWings are silly things,” he scoffed, shaking his head. Half of them had to be air-brained fools, and the other violet criminals. Very few SilkWings he had met had the brains and sense to be a good servant, especially for his own household. “I suppose it is probably necessary. Besides, it would be much less intimidating if you were named Butterfly,” he joked, “Thank you! Apparently they’re small orange insects. Sadly, not all of us have mothers who set us up for guardship.” the HiveWing chuckled. Bombardier, Vice suddenly realized, was about his age. He had assumed older, but no-she couldn’t be older than ten, now that he got a closer look. It dawned on him that she could have been, say, born in the same hatchery and he would have never known or noticed. How odd, he reflected, that some dragons be so similar in tribe and age and yet so different in profession and status.

kingfish"I'm not a jail guard. But of course, I've been there before. We all have." It was part of their training- they needed to see what they would be putting criminals through. Any dragon that hesitated or felt sympathy- this wasn't the job for them. They didn't want open hostility or anger towards the criminals, just...toleration. They did crimes, they stayed in the dungeon for as long as they needed to. "Well, a dragon can be self obsessed- but the instant they start doing crime, they're out of here." she said with a shake of her head. "They sure did. They would have had a better time if they didn't bother resisting me- but they did, and they faced the consequences." Bombardier said with a small heh. "There's still ones that don't give us problems, but we keep a close eye on them as a whole." She twitched her tail, clicking her scales against the ground. "Nobody would take a dragon named Butterfly seriously. At least, I sure wouldn't." She looked behind her, over at where the SilkWing had been. "Their name was probably something like that. They had nerve, but nothing to back that up." she said with an exasperated sigh. "Well, not everybody would know that. Maybe it's intimidating enough- but since you're wealthy, you don't need to deal with that. You can be named Butterfly and be rich, and dragons will still respect you. Being a warrior or being super rich- that's the way to get by. She wouldn't admit that the rich ones often did better than even the guards. She knew that some of her fellow guards even took bribes. Note- I edited Bombardier's age since she was logically too young to be in the position imo

Bronzewing“What’s it like? I assume it’s filled with SilkWings..that must be a bit annoying;” he snorted slightly. Even the few in his household could get on his nerves after a while, even if they were normally tolerable. Viceroy rolled his eyes. My, that was a stupid thing for a dragon to try-resisting a guard. Sometimes after an assassination or such thing was found out, HiveWings would try and run from the guards, try to get away from justice, but it was always served. The HiveWing would never forget the athleticism of the pale guard that took down a running noble-Earwig, her name had been, arrested for a half-LeafWing child. That had been a fiasco.. He shrugged in agreement to the guard, “At least they tried to get away. I at least respect them being able to get this far,” the dragon chuckled at his own lack of stamina. He really needed to get to the track more, but a lot of games and sports were made for dragons who could fly. “As they say, treasure is the way to any dragon’s heart. It’s not exactly wealth that makes you respected, it’s the fact that you can make dragons around you do things for your money. Without bodyguards, even someone like the queen is vulnerable.” Vice said, “What I mean is, if my name was Butterfly I’d only be respected because other dragons want something from me. At least you common dragons don’t have to deal with that.”

kingfish"It's filled with mostly SilkWings, but there's also a Hive or two in there." she explained. "The HiveWings tend to be the more dangerous ones- so we keep far back from them and assign some guards to keep an eye on 'em." She didn't mention LeafWings- she didn't see any in the prisons and guessed they were killed on sight. She didn't feel bad for them, but at the same time she had never met one. "Oh, some got farther. Sometimes dragons don't realize something's been stolen as fast as you did, and it takes us some time to head after them. They're always found- and most of them don't even get out of eyesight of the dragon they're stealing from! Hah! That's how fast we leap and tackle them." She flicked her wings with a bit of pride. She was good at what she did, after all. "Pretty much everybody has to deal with money. I deal more in strength- dragons may respect a rich man, but they'll fear a strong one." Upon hearing Viceroy call her a "common dragon" her eyes narrowed, and she raked her claws across the ground with a loud noise, leaving deep scratches in the earth. "We are not common dragons." she said with eerie calmness in her voice. "You better keep your eyes out, in case you're doing something against the law. Can a common dragon drag you off to the jails? I didn't think so."

Bronzewing“I’d imagine any HiveWing that commits a crime is about as bad as a SilkWing.” Vice said with derision. His opinion was obvious-he didn’t like rule-breakers. SilkWing or HiveWing, if someone had to lie and cheat and steal than they didn’t deserve to walk among other dragons as an equal. The HiveWing snorted, “Of course. My; if I ever stole anything, I wouldn’t even try to get away, there’s no point.” Vice said, shaking his head. He was under the unfortunate assumption that no crime was ever gotten away with-something that came from being born in a place where generally, everyone was in everyone’s business, and therefore, rarely did something slip under a spy’s watchful gaze. “Fear isn’t something I’d like to deal in, personally. I prefer a more...open sort of dealing,” he smiled, “But I see where you are coming from.” If Vice was maybe a bit taller, a bit wider, with wings, maybe dragons would stop calling him a SilkWing. “I meant no offense. Being a common dragon doesn’t mean you can’t well and good snap my neck if you wanted, Bombardier, it means you’re simply not nobility. Nothing wrong with that,” he backpedaled, awkwardly smiling. That..maybe wasn’t what his mother had said word for word, but his mother tended to say ‘common dragons are absolutely below you, they should practically lick the ground you walk on’-he didn’t think that was exactly the smartest course of action.

kingfish"Often the HiveWings commit worse crimes." she said with a shake of her head. "They can get away with more, so the stuff they get jailed for tends to be rather bad. It's a shame, but if you do the crime, to the dungeons with you." She flicked her wings, thinking- she wondered how many dragons were in the prisons as of now. Were any of them even let free? She didn't have any sympathy for them, but did wonder if they would eventually run out of space. Maybe they would have to start doubling up SilkWings in one cell. She narrowed her eyes- she would keep an eye on this dragon. "Then there's no point in stealing something." she said with a clicking of her jaws. "I suppose you nobles are all filthy rich and don't have to deal with stuff like that. Either way, keep your claws off of things, and we'll never have problems." She continued to be angered over Viceroy calling them a common dragon- what common dragon could drag them away to the jails? What common dragon could be the bodyguard to a queen? What common dragon...she didn't run a store or some sort of trading caravan, she kept order, and now she wondered if she could punish a dragon for speaking out against the guards. "If you want to try to keep order, you have fun with that. See how long it takes before you take out each other's throats." she said with an angry huff. "Maybe I don't have noble blood, but I have enough in me to drag screaming nobles off to jail after they break the rules. The rules of the Hives are above you, and I'm enforcing them." Maybe the noble would get upset at her, but there wasn't much they could do. Either way, she planned to ditch the necklace Viceroy had given her- in case they decided to get back at her by claiming it was stolen. Or maybe she would get some sort of proof of it.

BronzewingVice snorted, “It’s not like SilkWings could commit..murder or something.” he almost rolled his eyes, smiling, “You do the crime, you do the time. That’s what my mother used to say, anyhow.” the dragon said, nodding. Vice had never entertained the idea that he could be sent to the prisons-he had never committed a crime, anyhow. Besides, his mother-she was related to the queen herself..(or so Weta claimed), so it wasn’t like he would be stuck there for a long amount of time. “You’d be surprised how many nobles have sticky talons about these sorts of things. Not me, of course- but you know Click, in Bloodworm Hive? Totally stole one of my bracelets a few years back.” the dragon said. He had left it in the waiting room at a gala, where he sat next to the dragon; and when he came back it was gone. The only perpetrator had been the half-mad HiveWing, but..in his heart of hearts, getting bitten over a bracelet was at the bottom of Vice’s bucket list. “Oh no, I could never do such a thing. I’d probably..break a claw or get *mauled*, Bombardier.” Vice snorted. He knew how to defend himself-that was about it. He was a HiveWing without powers-not uncommon, but certainly not helpful. And his wrists always hurt. “There’s a loooot of things that are far above me-like the queen, and the law; and probably you. Literally.” Vice looked up ar the taller HiveWing. “Though I am probably more handsome than hive law...probably a bit more jewelry.” he joked, inwardly squashing the doubts he had about trying to joke with an angry guard.
