{briefly; obsessive, really strange, intelligent, impulsive, passionate}
Detailed personality here;
Zeta is... weird. His sanity is an imaginary number. He knows all the digits of pi, or at least a lot more than he should. He can calculate the third side of a right triangle. He can make sense of THIS.
He will make references to numbers in everyday conversation. He does it naturally, without really realizing "I am here on the coordinate plane" or "bounding box of reality" are not very normal things to say when talking to somebody who probably does not have a clue what you are talking about.
So yes. Zeta likes math, a lot. He's almost obsessed with it, unable to stop talking in strange terms or doing really anything normal. He's impulsive and tends to do whatever comes to mind, may that be "lets kill god!" (yelling at the moon) or "let's make a tower of math!" (a tower of random objects.) Normally nobody is harmed except himself. He's strange, but not bad to be around.
He's passionate about the things he loves: for example, math. There are no other examples.
History:
Born to a NightWing guard and a RainWing prisoner on the volcano. His mother was one of the first prisoners before many of the others were brought in, and she was also one of the first to go free- or at least as much freedom as they could give her without the risk of her telling everybody their plans. The guard that oversaw her jail became smitten with her, and so she got the ability to walk around, talk to others, and... raise a dragonet.
He was the stranger of the two dragonets. The other looked like a fairly normal NightWing, without Zeta's curved tail or the strange way he thought. They were both named normal NightWing things, RainWing names being a bit strange if they were ever going to live with the rest of the tribe. They didn't want to call attention to how the both of them were hybrids. Quickly into his life Zeta's name was changed once he had discovered one of the "greatest things the world will ever have to offer": an old maths scroll. Believing it fit him more, they changed his name. Zeta has no clue what his original name was meant to be, nor does he care to know.
They would have to tear him away from the scrolls sometime. He would have his nose stuck in one as his brother went out flying and catching prey, using his venom to strike targets and talking about his future fighting for the tribe. He turned a blind eye to what happened with the RainWings, something Zeta also did. His mother was fine, these new dragons should be too! Even when his brother lost his own venom, he didn't care much. After all, it was for his sibling to deal with, and they were okay with it. So Zeta stuffed his nose into scrolls until there were no more and he memorized them all, and then he continued to study and calculate force and numbers and the area of an arc and everything that he found interesting until he went beyond that, his hyperfixation spilling out into his speech.
This was when, at the age of five, they started to have a problem with him. "Numbers of pi are not a battle cry." "I am not an equation with no solution." "No, you cannot calculate the arc width of our door, or whatever." "Your brother is not 'zetta slow' or whatever that means." He was not his brother, a prospective warrior for the tribe who had denied their own hybrid heritage. He was not anything special. He looked like a RainWing hybrid, had the tail of a RainWing hybrid, and had some "mental issue" that the tribe didn't think fondly of.
His mother? What about her? She disappeared soon after the volcano erupted. He guessed she had gone home, or she had burned, or she had gone across the ocean and drowned- hah! If she had listened to him about the ocean being "beyond the graph" she would be fine! And his sibling, his perfect sibling... he had burned fighting against lava, of all things. He had burned to a crisp. His melting scales did not smell like numbers, but he wondered how much liquid they would amount to if he caught the melted viscera and scales in a cup. He was never good with people.
He also remembers himself burning, or having burned, or losing something to the flames. He remembers being like a stone into the ocean, diving in with no way to move his weakened wings, or his form, or breathe. He calculated the trajectories of the fish around him, the pressure of the water on his chest, and that was it.
He remembers waking up by the bank of the water, looking at the volcano from far, lost and tired. He didn't know what happened, and for a moment expected himself to be "out of the bounding box of reality"... but no, he breathes, and the feeling of the fish biting his rotting scales was gone. He looked the same, but there was something in the back of his mind, something that sometimes drove him to a sort of madness. Maybe he did get a glimpse outside the coordinate plane.
He wanders around a lot of the time. The rainforest is not his home, nor is the peninsula, and it doesn't matter to him. When the first school opened, he signed up- he didn't even get to teach for that long before it went downhill. He didn't know about any murders, and only stuck around to prove his own innocence before leaving yet again. Now that he hears rumors of a new school starting, well, he's going right back at it.

Madness Table
(rolling d100)
1-10: Zeta becomes "paralyzed", retreating into his own thoughts for a few minutes. When snapping out of it, he tends to ramble for a bit. |
11-20: As if he told a zetta good joke, he starts laughing- or crying- for a while. No, he cannot explain what's wrong. |
21-30: Hallucinations of... math? Numbers? We don't know, but he's screaming about pi again. |
31-40: He's filled with an overwhelming desire to collect. He'll run around, grabbing whatever's not tied down, and make a lovely mess. |
41-50: Forget about reality!! He digs a nice hole outside and lays down in there. He usually fills it back in once he "snaps out" of it. |
51-60: Huh?! Why is he a MudWing now? Zeta feels as if he randomly became a different dragon tribe, and will act like that until he snaps out. |
61-70: Flashbacks to his death. The feeling of fish biting him, of water in his lungs... maybe sometimes a shot of what saved him, if anything actually did. |
71-80: He just rolls around on the floor crying or screaming. He's probably remembering something. |
81-90: He rambles random numbers as if they're normal speech. 567899875... 56784321... 1234567... 7923878934... |
91-100: He can see the future! Like a NightWing, he gets visions... which are all false, unless the future is made of calculus. |
