"Fae" - ♀
A malnourished, oddly colored Hivewing with pale orange, tan, & black scales with 4 opaque, lavender wings.
Age:
Dragonet (5 Years)
Dragonet (5 Years)
Appearance:
Faefly is a short, stout dragonet with scales the color of fresh beeswax. Her horns seem oddly bent and asymmetrical, though not quite as strange as how her frame is built. Rather than a Hivewing's slender & square jawline, her snout is short and thick with protruding nostrils. Her tail is thick and heavy compared to the rest of her body, while her limbs are incredibly skinny; and her wings, rather than being translucent, are opaque & colored like a night sky.
Abilities:
Alongside paralyzing venom in her teeth and in stingers on her front talons, she managed to obtain mindreading through her Nightwing blood.
Personality:
[Fearful, Timid, Observant, Quick-thinking]
Faefly is timid and worrisome, preferring sticking to the sidelines to let things play out. She offers helpful insight and is quite the problem solver, but is nowhere near having the courage to voice it.
Faefly was born to a Hivewing aristocrat & a Nightwing refugee. Seven years prior, the Nightwing: 'Cometwatcher', beached upon Pantalan shores after fleeing his home continent in fear of the wave of death rolling throughout Pyrrhia. His children were half Icewing - he loved them, but, he refused to watch his offspring grow up cursed and hated by the world. Not long before their mother had died, the young Dragonets began showing signs of Queen Diamond's curse: one was in a constant state of suffering, with week-long migraines, and the other started to lose their sight. In a desperate attempt, he flung himself into the ocean to drown himself, only to awake days later on a sandy coast. There, he met a Hivewing named 'Mayfly' on her lonesome, sulking. Not long before, her mate had died to a rogue Firesilk, and their single egg hatched stillborn. Surely, she thought she was hallucinating, as what looked like a Clearsight clone 's corpse rolled onto the sand. But after it screamed and threatened to kill her for prodding it, she decided, perhaps it is real. They spoke and found solace in each other despite their differences (one being, that Mayfly thought Cometwatcher was a reincarnate Clearsight) after many nights of speaking - but the Nightwing was quickly running into an issue. When he asked to come back with her to her village, she shouted at him and left! But, she told him not to wander into the jungle they sat beside, either. He was beginning to regret coming here. And after a month of dwelling on the beach, she at last told him; she'd delivered his egg.
Nervous, but excited, he accepted the role of its 'caretaker' while they awaited its hatching; she visited more frequently, and Comet was beginning to ease his guard. On the 12th week of the egg's incubation, as tiny cracks began to break its surface, he realized Mayfly was yet to arrive: in fact, she was an hour late. As he pondered, loud crashes and the buzz of wings neared his makeshift den beside the ocean. Expecting she'd only stayed too late at one of the balls she'd told him of at her hive, he rolled the hatching egg outside in wait for her. What he saw was not only Mayfly, but three other very aggravated, very not-happy Leafwings. Before he could register it, he heard - "Comet, RUN!" - and his egg was hoisted into the air. Pain shot through his side, and then his skull; and as his sight began to dwindle, he saw Mayfly bolting with their hatchling back to the Hives.
Faefly hatched midair beneath a single full moon illuminating her mother's back, to sobs and distant shouts of dragons. They made it to Jewel Hive, and through bustling crowds and concerned Hivewings, Mayfly flew . . . Directly into her second husband, a wealthy Weaver the Queen had just assigned her, who was just coming home as well. After a lengthy fight and dozens of threats back and forth, somehow, her husband agreed to claim Fae as his & Mayfly's child: if not for time off from work, for his own reputation. Molds were put onto her horns to grow curved, rather than straight like her father's, and dozens of different paints and dyes were used in an attempt to permanently change the color of her scales (and failed stupendously). She grew up in a half-loving household as an only-dragonet, but an angry father was the least of her concerns. Each morning she was woken hours before their school began so that her mother could paint over her horns and her scales; she looked too much like Comet, and no Hivewing was ever purple. And during the school day, it could only worsen. Voices wracked her brain and her own thoughts were muffled by the dozens of others constantly barraging her mind. Neither her, nor her mother, or any Pantalan dragon knew of Pyrrhian dragons' abilities: she thought, and still thinks, she was insane, rather than having inherited a Nightwing's ability. Sitting beside her father during dinner, she struggled to eat through the constant downpour of insults she heard - and while she attempted to sleep, the utter woe and depressive thoughts of her mother kept her up. The Dragonet was never told of her Hybrid blood, so, she continues to live ignorant and . . . Un-blissful.
