The character's appearance;
Many find it hard to believe that Lady Mantis is related to the Queen. While Queen Tarantula is mostly black, with yellow scales in a few places, Lady Mantis' scales are a pale tan, with a few black spots along her spine. Her eyes are a light pink, and while the underside of her wings are nearly black, the dorsal sides are a lighter colour, with brown stripes. The underside of her arms are a bright orange, which led to rumors about her being part Silkwing.
While her older sister's build is more bulky, Lady Mantis is more sleek, with a long tail and narrow wings.

Personality:
Lady Mantis appears friendly and not very bright to those who don't know her very well. She's always smiling and seems to be happy to go along with whatever anyone suggests. But those who've tried to manipulate her quickly find that is all merely an act.
She is sadistic and manipulative, and enjoys messing with those unaware of her true nature. Her sister may be Tarantula, but Mantis is the true spider of the family, weaving an elaborate web of lies and blackmail to control her subjects.
History:
Lady Mantis hatched 2 years before the death of the previous Queen. She was a rather sickly dragonet and mostly kept inside until she was a few years old. By that time her mother had already died, and the royal dragonet suddenly appearing led to a lot of rumors about her, that she was not truly royal, or even part Silkwing. The glares she got only led to her hiding even more. Mantis learned quite early on that dragons had secrets, especially those with high ranks, but what interested her most was how those could be used against them.
When she was old enough she became ruler of Mantis hive. While many thought it was simply because they shared a name, it did fit the image they had of Mantis, she was actually more interested in it's library and the information it held. The Hive's been under her rule for nearly 28 years now, and in that time became more focused on knowledge than before. A lot of books from Cicada Hive's library have mysteriously disappeared, only to suddenly show up in her own, but so far no one has been brave enough to say anything about it.
